Is There Such a Thing as Modern Day Miracles?

We've all heard stories of miracles, such as Jesus healing the sick or feeding 5000 people with 5 loaves and 2 fish. Do miracles still happen today or are what we consider miracles just a coincidence or product of modern medicine and technology? Is there such a thing as modern-day miracles?

What is a miracle?

A miracle is an event that is not the product of man, but some sort of supernatural force. Furthermore, these events must be carried out by His command and His divine power in order to be a miracle.

Is God still performing miracles today?

Much scripture suggests that miracles would continue as long as needed. Paul suggests in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 that miracles would not continue by stating, 9 "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities." It was also implied in Luke 16:31 that we would not need modern miracles to believe, 31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”

Are these miracles?

There are stories that we consider miracles that cannot be explained. A baby born to parents was pronounced dead due to distress during birth, however, after the parents held the child for a few hours, the baby came back to life. Another story tells of a boating accident with 2 young children, their mother, and their grandmother. All ended up o.k., but the young girl told her grandmother about a man under the water that pushed her towards her grandmother's hand in order to be pulled to safety.

There are mixed thoughts and opinions regarding modern-day miracles and if they still exist. All that matters is your trust, faith, and belief in His word. Please contact us with any thoughts or questions about modern-day miracles.
